New Supergirl TV Show boasts Costume from Colleen Atwood

Colleen Atwood, Oscar-winning Costume designer, has granted the power of modern and sleekly sophisticated style to yet another Superhero from the DC Comics Universe: Supergirl. Here’s a sneak peak. What do you think?

Production of the TV Pilot just began and will air on CBS. The new TV Drama focuses on Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El, played by Glee star Melissa Benoist: Kara escapes her birth planet Krypton’s destruction and arrives on Earth, where her foster family helps her learn to wield her superhuman powers with caution. In the pilot you’ll also enjoy guest appearances from Helen Slater and Dean Cain, former Supergirl and Superman actors.

Nominated for eleven Academy Awards, Atwood has won Oscars for her Costume Design achievements in Alice In Wonderland, Memoirs Of A Geisha, and Chicago. In addition to designing the new Supergirl Costume, Atwood is credited with the Costumes for Green Arrow and The Flash in the latest TV Series. As director David Nutter said of Arrow, Atwood’s Costuming work helps create a “real, believable world” in which characters like “Oliver Queen can do incredible things.” And let’s not forget the expectations of die-hard DC Comics fans, which Atwood manages to meet and surpass.
