Item Description
Handmade Mochila Arhuaca Colombian Handicraft
In the Arhuaco community women are the ones that weave these beautiful Artisan Bags with pure skill and dedication. The process of making these Mochilas involves a lot of manual labor and time since the Arhuacos also have to take care of the sheep given that the quality of the wool depends on how healthy the sheep are. The Arhuaco women spend a minimum of 30 days to complete just one piece so now you can imagine the intrinsic value of these beautiful Mochilas Arhuacas. This deep, round shoulder bag is called Kunsamunu a'mia, meaning "The thought of a woman". When the Arhuaco women are weaving a bag they are thinking about life, family and nature; and that thought becomes their inspiration to come up with a unique design.
These Woven Bags are made of 100% virgin sheep wool and they are 100% handmade by watis (Arhuaco women). Each Mochila is representative of their culture and is blessed by mother Earth.
