Making a Difference in the Community: Wonder Costumes Donates to Switchboard of Miami
It’s already the end of March but there are many good things that we, as a company, still look forward to accomplishing throughout the rest of 2016. No, it is not all about business and selling more costumes—though that is always welcomed—there are some important causes that will fulfill Wonder Costumes’ 2016. Certainly, one of those causes was scratched off the list before the year even started. In late December, we had the pleasure and the privilege to take part in a very special donation that brought lots of happiness to the children of the Switchboard of Miami's ‘Sweetwater en Acción’ youth program. Wonder Costumes has developed a special relationship with Switchboard of Miami; we have donated to the organization in the past to serve the community through their programs. Being a business that specializes in costumes, it is in our agenda to bring joy to children.
The program coordinator, Virginia Rego, is also in charge of coordinating the donations and deciding their final use. This time, we were thrilled to learn that the donation of 200+ costumes and accessories was given to Sweetwater Elementary School. The costumes will be used by the students enrolled in performing arts programs in the school. This doubles our satisfaction as we also support schools and educational institutions that promote the arts; theaters, school programs, dance studios and production companies are year round friends of Wonder Costumes. Every year, we are one of the few costume stores that stay open after Halloween to cater to these programs. We are proud to be in a position to impact the development of talented children who will one day impact the artistic culture.
Switchboard of Miami is a community outreach organization dedicated to the empowerment of people in need. Sweetwater en Acción is one of their many youth prevention programs that provide children with resources to pursue educational activities that will keep them on the right track to a healthy life. Wonder Costumes is primarily an online store with international clientele, but being based in Miami, we recognize that the South Florida community has been very important to the company’s success. That is why we have established meaningful relationships with community programs that allow us to give back. We are especially interested in effective programs that educate and help children succeed as they develop into adults. Switchboard of Miami made a strong case as they are a proven non-profit organization that is dedicated to community outreach and youth prevention.
We encourage you to support and promote similar programs in your community. Good causes are not only beneficial to those receiving help; they are also an integral part of a cohesive community, which we all can benefit from.
