Alice Girls Costumes
With characters so magical like the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter and the unpredictable Queen of Hearts, it is no wonder that Disney tried their hand at adapting the book into an animated fantasy adventure film in 1951. Unfortunately, the movie was met with a halfhearted response and was not a box office success as Disney had hoped for. It was also met with unpleasant reviews from literary fans and critics who felt the British literature classic had been too "Americanized" and contrived. During Walt Disney's life the movie was never re-released in theaters but it did make it's way to network television in 1954 in a watered-down, shorter made-for-TV version.
It was not until 2010 when Disney contracted Tim Burton (famed director of Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare Before Christmas) to bring to life his version of Alice In Wonderland. Tim Burton's goal was to keep the classic elements of "Alice" as told by Lewis Carroll yet give it all those psychological, mystical, thrilling elements he is absolutely brilliant at. With actors such as Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter the movie drew huge box office numbers and became Tim Burton's highest grossing film ever.
